My Community Collaborative Aboriginal Art Competition – Terms and Conditions

 

My Community Collaborative (MCC) is a not for profit company who provides community programs free of charge to the community. These programs include Indigenous programs and children’s programs incorporating closing the gap. Our aim is to provide a safe space to improve mental health outcomes, social inclusion outcomes and physical outcomes.

By entering the My Community Collaborative (MCC) Aboriginal Art Competition, I warrant that I have read, agree to, and will abide by, the conditions of entry as set out in these Terms and Conditions.

I declare that the work submitted is my original authentic work and does not infringe copyright or moral rights of another person or group.

I declare that at the time of submitting the artwork there is no cultural or religious reasons or any other impediment that prevents the artwork from being exhibited, published or reproduced.

Entry

1. The artwork submitted is to reflect My Community Collaborative (MCC) incorporating the story of our forming, our collaboration, respect for Country and community with the theme of our slogan “get involved”

2. Artworks must be submitted by 18th August 2023 at 5:00pm AEST.

3. Entries received after the closing time will not be considered.

4. Entrants may submit a maximum one (1) entry in the competition.

5. There is no fee associated with entering this competition.

6. Artists submitting artwork must:

a) Be of Aboriginal descent living on the Sunshine Coast

b) Identify as an Aboriginal person

c) Be an individual aged 18 years or older

7. Entrants must provide the following to be considered for a prize:

 

a) Full name

b) Email address

c) Telephone number

d) Title of artwork

e) Description (max 100 words) stating how the artwork relates to the theme

f) One (1) clear photograph of the artwork (the artwork will be judged on this photo) as

a high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) jpeg format. The artwork is to be on a minimum sized canvas of 50cm (Wide) and 75cm (Length)

8. If successful, entrants will need to provide additional details to My Community Collaborative (MCC)”. These details will allow

My Community Collaborative (MCC)” to send an agreement to use the artwork throughout digital media, apparel and other My Community Collaborative (MCC) requirements.

The details will include:

a) Company name

b) Australian Business Number (ABN)

c) Address

d) Suburb

e) Post code

9. Once submitted, entries are final and cannot be altered.

Competition Rules

10. Artworks must be painted on canvas. Photography, film/video, ceramics or sculpture are NOT eligible for this competition.

11. All entries will be reviewed prior to publication of the winner and decided by the designated panel that My Community Collaborative (MCC) nominates. My Community Collaborative (MCC) reserves the right to remove any entry that does not comply with the terms and conditions.

12. As the competition is hosted online any artworks that are deemed offensive, violent, derogatory or racist, or those featuring full frontal nudity will be disqualified.

Winners and Prizes

13. The successful winner will be nominated as the exclusive artist for all My Community Collaborative (MCC) Indigenous events, apparel, marketing and will be named in all of these.

14. The winning entrant will be exposed to all business partners and affiliates including global recognition throughout social media posts, press releases, interviews and other ongoing business ventures. The winner will receive financial benefit as nominated and agreed on any sale where My Community Collaborative (MCC) sells items that include the artwork this includes apparel and merchandise.

15. The artist will be exclusive to My Community Collaborative (MCC) for all Indigenous artwork and will be named throughout all avenues where the artwork appears. Finalists will be notified by telephone or email on Friday 25th August 2023. The winning artist will be notified on Thursday 31st August 2023.

16. These rights are not transferrable.

Judging

Overall and Young Artist

17. My Community Collaborative (MCC) project team will elect a panel of up to five (5) judges from within and external to the organisation.

18. Artworks will be judged on:

a) Quality – overall impression of the artwork.

b) Story – creativity and originality of the theme designated above.

19. Only one (1) winner will be selected.

20. The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into about the outcome.

 

Artist category. 

21. An artwork may only be selected as the winner of this competition.

22. Artists will also be asked to identify their mob and provide information about themselves to My Community Collaborative (MCC).

23. The winner/s will be publicly announced throughout social media, website and through press releases.

24. All entries will that meet these guidelines will be considered.

25. The successful winner will need to provide the original painting to My Community Collaborative (MCC) and agrees it will become the property of My Community Collaborative (MCC) will all rights reserved and that it will be displayed at the business premises of My Community Collaborative (MCC) as well as at events, in photographs and any place My Community Collaborative (MCC) requires to take the artwork.

26. Judging will be done by the designated panel and will be based on 5 finalists that My Community Collaborative (MCC) will have the sole discretion of deciding.

27. Judges from the panel will be listed internally with My Community Collaborative (MCC).

28. Judges can only vote once and for one single finalist. 

 

Privacy

29. My Community Collaborative (MCC) is collecting your personal information for the purpose of entering you into the My Community Collaborative (MCC)”Aboriginal Art Competition. My Community Collaborative (MCC)” will use this information to contact winners if they are successful.

30. The artist’s name and the story behind the artwork will be displayed on our website, social media pages and through a media press release.

31. My Community Collaborative (MCC) will not sell any part of information collected as part of the competition and exhibition or transfer this information to third parties for marketing

nor will My Community Collaborative (MCC) disclose it to any outside organisation (outside of media and press) unless approved by the artist.

Publicity and permissions

32. Intellectual property rights in all submissions will remain with the Aboriginal artist. It is agreed that the Intellectual property rights of the winner will be owned by My Community Collaborative (MCC) with an agreement of how this artwork will be displayed, reproduced and used.

33. All artworks will be displayed on our website, corporate office and on social media sites. Entries may be promoted by My Community Collaborative (MCC). By entering, entrants give permission for My Community Collaborative (MCC) to promote their entry in this way at the discretion of the My Community Collaborative (MCC). In these instances, the Aboriginal artist will be acknowledged for the artwork.

34. The artist acknowledges and understands that My Community Collaborative (MCC) cannot stop third parties from copying artwork from any platforms where the artwork may be featured.

35. Once the successful Aboriginal artist accepts being the winning entrant for our My Community Collaborative (MCC)” Aboriginal Art Competition 2023, the artist authorises My Community Collaborative (MCC) to use the art on resources produced for My Community Collaborative (MCC). Resources may include My Community Collaborative (MCC) documents (printed and electronic), digital media and potentially merchandise (including T-shirts, clothing and other apparel) for education and awareness purposes. It may include using parts of the artwork (e.g. specific imagery) to convey a message. In such instances the Aboriginal artist will be acknowledged for the artworks. 

36. The artist authorises parts of the artwork to be used on the resources as well as the whole artwork and that it will be reproduced in digital form for printing purposes.

37. The winning artist acknowledges and understands these terms and conditions prior to submitting their entry and is bound by these terms and conditions.
